To determine the position upon the track, we propose an approach based on counting in contrast to commonly applied travel distance determination by integrating the estimated velocity. ECS features are derived from the signal by means of specially defined virtual sensors and subsequently processed within a Bayesian formalism. This virtual sensor based approach allows parallelization of sensor signal processing and flexible integration of new sensors into the positioning system. The possibility to detect turnouts with a hit rate of 99\% allows the vehicle position to be tracked over the entire track, using the measurement data supplied by the ECS alone.}, language = {de} }
