Integration of Shape Memory Alloy Wires into Additive Fabricated Structures for Robotic Grippers

  • The integration of shape memory alloys (SMA) with additive manufacturing enables novel approaches for robotic gripper applications. This study introduces a method for embedding SMA wires into 3D-printed structures using fused filament fabrication (FFF). The resulting bending behavior is analytically described, numerically simulated, and experimentally validated. This study introduces a method for embedding SMA wires into 3D-printed structures using fused filament fabrication (FFF). The resulting bending behavior is analytically described, numerically simulated, and experimentally validated. The results demonstrate a strong correlation with theoretical predictions, with deviations primarily attributed to manufacturing tolerances and material interactions.…zeige mehrzeige weniger
