We strongly assume that pattern recognition of the scattering of ultrasound cannot only play an important role in verifying pearls, but also in testing other materials and tissues in (bio-)medical engineering. Furthermore, and most importantly, this new approach could be helpful for a variety of clinical diagnoses using high-resolution 3D-USCT, such as the detection of X-ray-negative micro-calcifications in early breast cancer.
