To prevent the discomfort, exoskeletons are being developed to support the musculoskeletal system. Exoskeletons are assistance systems wearing on the body that have a mechanical effect on the body. They reduce compression pressure in the lower back. In this context, the present bachelor thesis investigates the relief of the lumbar vertebrae due to the influence of exoskeleton-like forces acting in the region of the thorax and the thighs. In doing so, the investigation is limited to a lifting operation, such as the lifting of a box. With the help of a marker-based and non-invasive 3D recording method, a lifting motion is recorded without an exoskeleton. The experimental recording is linked to a computer-based skeleton model in OpenSim software. By adding exoskeleton-like forces acting on the skeleton model during lifting, the force application during wearing an exoskeleton is simulated. This results in torques in the lower back, which are analyzed in this work. An evaluation of the non-invasive procedure provides the insight that the use of an exoskeleton during lifting in the area of the lumbar vertebrae leads to a reduction of the torques and thus to a reduction of the load on the lower back.show moreshow less
