This thesis deals with the FEV centrifugal compressor teststand at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences. The teststand has two electrically operated compressorunits from the Rotrex company, on which students can gain practical experience. The range of application of the teststand is to be extended, so that different impeller geometries can be tested with otherwise unchanged construction. To realise this, knowledge about the operating behaviour of the volute and possible design solutions for the interface between the impeller and the gearbox are required. Using numerical methods for flow analysis, the operating range of the volute was determined by narrowing down the inlet conditions. Furthermore, research was carried out on common couplings, three different coupling concepts were worked out and compared with each other. This work does the preliminary work and thus lays the foundation for the implementation of the upcoming series of tests on the operating behaviour of different impeller geometries.
