An overview on alliances and ecosystems for home and building automation
- Home and building automation solutions have existed in the past decade, and even before that, in many varieties of technologies. With recent advancement in chip and microelectronics technology these solutions are evolving to a new generation. Home and building automation is slowly becoming a part of the Internet of Things. Devices in the home are continuously getting connected to the Internet andHome and building automation solutions have existed in the past decade, and even before that, in many varieties of technologies. With recent advancement in chip and microelectronics technology these solutions are evolving to a new generation. Home and building automation is slowly becoming a part of the Internet of Things. Devices in the home are continuously getting connected to the Internet and becoming significantly ubiquitous. In order to salvage the fruits of these emerging technologies and markets, manufacturers are competing by employing different strategies. Some, startups and the ones with enough financial power, try to lead the way out of the bunch by creating innovative solutions (ecosystems) based on a new proprietary technology or by using existing technologies. Others join efforts in form of alliances to develop a standardized solution that could become the de-facto solution for home and building automation.
