In the context of a model district project situated in Karlsruhe-Durlach, a comprehensive integrated energy concept is being implemented and monitored. This energy concept en-compasses the utilization of heat pumps, cogeneration units, and photovoltaic systems, integrated within a local heating and electricity network. The main objective is to deliver heat and electricity to the existing buildings in an economic and environmentally friendly way reducing CO2 emissions by 50%. Within the scope of this article, an economic analysis for heat and electricity conctracting is presented. The analysis takes into account investment costs as well as the precise quantification of energy flows, achieved through both measurements and calculations. It is important to note that the costs associated with heat generation are contingent not only upon the initial investments but also on the prevailing energy-economic framework conditions. As carbon taxes progressively increase, it is expected that the medium-term costs of heat generation will be lower than those associated with conventional energy systems. Consequently, the integrated energy concept possesses substantial potential for widespread application in existing urban districts situated outside the purview of district heating areas.…
